Brussels – Educating a new generation of leaders who are open to the world and cherish a solid sense of belonging to their European identity is a common goal for Universities in Europe. A challenge met with determination by Luiss, which presented its educational programs in Brussels on Thursday, 22nd February – starting with a new “triple degree” that builds a bridge between three symbolic cities within the EU: Rome, Brussels, and Frankfurt. The topic of the new skills needed to succeed in an increasingly international and constantly evolving job market was at the center of the “Enquire the World: How Universities Should Educate Future Leaders” event, organized at the Residence of the Italian Ambassador to Belgium Federica Favi, in the presence of the President of Luiss, Luigi Gubitosi and the Rector of Luiss, Andrea Prencipe.
“It is with great pleasure that we are presenting the Luiss model in a prestigious venue that serves as a reference point for the Italian and European community. We would like to thank Ambassador Favi for opening the doors to a debate on the key topic of skills and on the future of higher education. Our University has always been engaged in a constant and constructive dialogue with companies and institutions, with the aim of providing young students with the most effective tools to anticipate and manage the challenges that they will handle as protagonists,” said Luigi Gubitosi, President of Luiss.

“In Brussels we have promoted the “Made in Italy” of educational excellence, for the European leaders of the future. With three hundred thousand compatriots residing in Belgium and in the heart of Europe, Luiss’ choice to launch a “triple” degree has proven to be a successful and far-sighted strategy, destined to weave the basis for ever greater European solidarity,” Ambassador Favi said.

Trummer (CEO Goethe Finance Association at the Goethe-Universität di Francoforte), Luigi Ksawery Luca’ (Vice President Sales Business Transformation, Toyota Motor Group)

The meeting was indeed an opportunity to present for the first time the triple degree program “EUTribe – European Triple Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and Business“, which unites Luiss, Goethe University in Frankfurt and Solvay School of Economics & Management in Brussels. An academic program with a strong European vocation that will enable students, starting from September 2024, to deep dive into three different academic realities marked by highly innovative training methods, leading to their attainment of three different degrees.

As Luiss Rector Andrea Prencipe said: “Luiss is characterized by a strong drive towards internationalization: it is part of our DNA. The EUTribe Triple Degree is an important step in our Global and Regional Engagement Strategy: together with two academic institutions of absolute excellence – Solvay School of Economics & Management and Goethe University – we are committed to the mission of preparing a generation of cosmopolitan leaders, fully aware of their European roots and with their gaze firmly projected towards the world”. High-profile protagonists from the academic and corporate worlds contributed to the discussion: Andrea Minuto Rizzo, Head of European & International Institutional Affairs, Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane, Luigi Ksawery Luca‘, Vice President Sales Business Transformation at Toyota Motor Europe, Anne Weyembergh, Professor and Vice-Rector for International Affairs at the Université Libre de Bruxelles (ULB), Harry W. Trummer, CEO Goethe Finance Association at Goethe University of Frankfurt.

In parallel, the “Luiss Brussels Days” were held at the Confindustria headquarters in Brussels: a two-day event of job interviews and opportunities for over one hundred students from Luiss University and its Schools, who met with representatives of institutions, international organizations, NGOs, law firms and companies based in Belgium.

With this mission, Luiss continues its path of international development, highlighted by the recent climb to the top of the leading higher-education world rankings: Luiss ranked 14th worldwide and 2nd in Europe according to the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2023, which also placed the University in the top 50 positions for the “Business and Management” and “Law” areas.
