Brussels – The European Commission today (April 26) added the online shopping platform, Shein, on the list of ‘Very large online platforms’ (VLOP). The fashion site will now have to comply with the stricter rules set out in the Directive on Electronic Commerce (DSA), regarding consumer and data protection.
Shein has informed the EU Commission that it has an average of over 45 million monthly users across the Union, this number is above the threshold to be listed as a VLOP. The platform will now have a maximum of four months (by the end of August) to comply with the regulations.
