Brussels – While all the attention in Brussels is focused on the ongoing debate between the European Commission presidential candidates, which is focused precisely on relations with the extreme right—with Ursula von der Leyen making clear openings for collaborations—the executive board of the Identity and Democracy group, the one to which the Lega and Rassemblement National belong, issues a note to announce that it “decided today to exclude with immediate effect the German AfD delegation.”

The “ouster” had already been announced days ago by RN leader Marine Le Pen after AfD’s top candidate Maximilian Krah, in an interview, refused to condemn the Nazi special forces SS as a whole.

“The ID group no longer wants to be associated with the incidents involving Maximilian Krah, the AfD’s lead candidate for the European elections,” the note released in Brussels explains succinctly.
