Rome – Eight Italian members of the European Nonviolent Action Movement, participated by 35 associations, including Azione Cattolica, Movimento Scout Adulti, MoVi, Vita, Base and Sale della Terra, together with the association EUcraina vso, will be in Kyiv on Tuesday, May 28, for a demonstration of solidarity with the Ukrainian cause.

From May 28-30, the delegation will meet with parliamentarians, journalists, and religious and civil society leaders at the central and peripheral levels to demonstrate the closeness of European civil society, raise awareness in the current election campaign of the close link between Ukrainian and EU futures, and consolidate partnerships with civil society and religious denominations in Ukraine ahead of “We Cannot Be Silent!”, the large European solidarity demonstration on July 11 in Kyiv, at St. Sophia Square.

Today, the delegation is in the liberated city of Chernihiv and has met with mayors of the area and witnesses of the Russian occupation. On Thursday, 30, the delegation will be received by Italian Ambassador Pier Francesco Zazo and will have a meeting at the Congress of Territorial Autonomies on European Civilian Peace Corps.

The delegation includes, among others, Angelo Moretti, president of Sale della the Terra, MEAN spokesperson and columnist for Avvenire and Vita; Marianella Sclavi, MEAN spokesperson and international conflict resolution expert; Tommaso Cappelli, representative of Azione Cattolica Italiana; Tetyana Shyshnyak, opera singer and cultural mediator for MeEAN, and Giovanni Kessler, founder of EUcraina, former director of the European Anti-Fraud Office and a magistrate.
