Brussels – From Feb. 15 to June 16, 2024, the marble sculpture Constructions dans la sphère by Belgian artist Georges Vantongerloo (1886-1965) from the collections of Intesa Sanpaolo will be exhibited at the residence of the Ambassador of Italy in Brussels as part of the well-established bilateral relations between Italy and Belgium. The loan is part of the promotion of culture as a facilitator of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The exhibition of the work was opened today at the residence of the Italian Ambassador Federica Favi, in the presence of representatives of European institutions, the Italian financial business community, and Belgian cultural and civil society institutions. For Intesa Sanpaolo, to whose artistic collection the work belongs, the opening was attended by Francesca Passamonti, Head of European and Regulatory Affairs, and Silvia Foschi, Historical and Artistic Heritage and Cultural Activities Manager of the Art, Culture and Historical Heritage Directorate.

The initiative confirms the Intesa Sanpaolo Group’s commitment to art and culture for the growth of society and as a tool for dialogue between countries, a commitment that is concretely translated into the development of Progetto Cultura, a programmatic plan of the bank’s cultural activities, renewed every three years and developed with the support of a Scientific Committee. One of the main objectives is to preserve, enhance, and share the group’s conspicuous artistic and architectural heritage with the public through Gallerie d’Italia, Intesa Sanpaolo’s museum hub. In its four locations in Milan, Naples, Turin, and Vicenza, historic palaces of the Bank used as museum and cultural venues, a selection of the 35,000 works of Intesa Sanpaolo’s artistic heritage are on permanent display.
