Brussels – The Erasmus+ program has a positive impact on the lives of participants, and in 2024, the ErasmusDays, an event that enables information and connection among citizens within one of the most successful EU exchange projects, has been organised again.
The
celebration of ErasmusDays 2024 is planned between October 14 and 19. Originating in 2017 from the French education and training agency, they have since spread across Europe and worldwide. “Numerous events are organised every year in all territories, in both urban and rural areas, highlighting the wide scope of the program,” explains Nelly Fesseau, director of the French Erasmus+ agency for education and training, adding, “ErasmusDays illustrate the wide diversity of Erasmus+ actors and opportunities.”

As a testament to this, in 2023, more than 9,000 events were held in more than 50 countries, attesting to the increased importance of the program and the significant impact on education, training, youth, and sports for Erasmus+ beneficiaries and stakeholders.

It is estimated that 2024 activities will exceed 10,000, involving students, trainees, adults, and sports coaches. Through these exchange days, you can inform and raise awareness about the impact on local communities, allowing you to host and get to know other Erasmus+ beneficiaries, including the institutions involved or even local representatives. The theme of 2024 is the role of sport in promoting international cooperation and cultural exchange in the wake of the Paris Olympic and Paralympic Games.

“Erasmus+ continues to inspire, open doors and transform the lives of millions of people. ErasmusDays 2024 celebrates the tremendous success of this iconic EU program and highlights the spirit of unity and collaboration that defines Europe,” comments Iliana Ivanova, Commissioner for Innovation, Research, Culture, Education and Youth.

We are talking about a project that is a milestone of the European Education Area and contributes to achieving the Union’s education goals, such as the right to education, inclusive and high-quality lifelong education and learning for all European citizens.

Through the cultural exchange and education of European citizens, both in study and training professionals, the Erasmus+ program succeeds in having a major impact. In 2022, it involved 1.2 million people in exchanges, and some 26,000 projects were created with a total budget of €4 billion, a success that ErasmusDays is about to revive and publicise to increase European citizens’ involvement.
