Brussels – Members of the European Parliament have endorsed the candidacy of Carlo Alberto Manfredi Selvaggi, appointed by the Italian government, to the European Court of Auditors.<\/p>\n
Manfredi Selvaggi’s nomination was supported in a secret ballot vote with 316 votes in favor, 31 against, and 186 abstentions.<\/p>\n
The final decision on his appointment will be up to the member states in the Council.<\/p>\n
Carlo Alberto Manfredi Selvaggi has served at the Italian Court of Auditors since 1997, as Substitute Prosecutor General\u00a0until 2005, and Deputy Prosecutor\u00a0General until 2021. He has been the\u00a0National Recovery and Resilience Plan\u00a0mission structure coordinator at the office of the Prime Minister since May 2023.<\/p>\n
The term of the previous Italian member of the ECA, Pietro Russo, ended on Feb. 29.<\/p>\n
According to the Treaty on the Functioning of the Union, any member state can propose its candidate for the European Court of Auditors. After consulting\u00a0Parliament,\u00a0the EU Council decides on the appointment for a six-year term.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
