The first phase was recently launched with 3 thousand megawatts, the tender process has resulted in all lots being awarded, and work on the site is scheduled to begin within the next month.” Merouane Chabane, director general of APRUE (Algeria’s National Agency for the Promotion and Rationalization of Energy Use), during the ongoing MeetMed Week in Hammamet, Tunisia, organized by MEDENER (which has Enea’s Roberta Boniotti as Secretary General) and Anme (Tunisia’s National Agency for Energy Management) in partnership with APRUE. “The commissioning of the first units is scheduled for 2026, while the completion of the first part of the program is planned for early 2027,” and, at the same time, “other batches will be started, to produce an average of 1,000 megawatts per year, to reach 15,000 megawatts by 2035.
